Field Trips - Semester 2
As part of our experiential programming, the ABEL class will be taking part in a variety of field trips this semester.
Below is a list of field trips, dates and Consent Forms (when available).
Yukon University
April, 2024

The ABEL class is going to Yukon University for an interactive experience inside the INtransformation Dome. The dome is a 360 degree immersive experience that will provide students with a regenerative learning experience by exploring the brain and its journey through adolescence.
Podcasting Studio

A small group of students from the ABEL program will be visiting the Podcasting Studio at Yukonstruct to learn about the tools required to record a high-quality podcast.
Students will have the opportunity to record their own podcast and spend time in the studio.
Mt. Sima

The ABEL class is going to Mt. Sima for a fun day of downhill skiing and snowboarding! The Mt. Sima Snow School package includes: lift tickets and rentals.
Thursday, March 28th is Day 1 of the Lost In Paradise World Cup and Festival. FIS Para Snowboard World Cup Event being hosted at Mt. Sima this weekend. Students will have the opportunity to meet athletes, watch competitions and take part in festivities.
Thanks to the Every Student, Every Day grant, this field trip is free for all ABEL students!
We will be travelling to and from the hill in Ms. Miller's vehicle. Students are also welcome to get a drive with a parent/guardian if this is arranged in advance.
Yukon Arts Centre

An afternoon of reading and conversation, featuring author Cherie Dimaline, in conversation with writer and storyteller Ivan Coyote. This event is the first in an exciting new partnership between Yukon University and Yukon Arts Centre.
Active Voice seeks to bring global voices to our Yukon community, and foster intimate and authentic discussion between each artist and our communities. Our first guest is the multi-talented and prolific author Cherie Dimaline.
Cherie Dimaline is a member of the Georgian Bay Metis Community in Ontario. Her 2017 book, The Marrow Thieves, was named by TIME magazine as one of the best Young Adult Books of All Time. MarrowThieves also won the Governor General’s Award, and the prestigious Kirkus Prize for Young Readers.

Lumel Studios
