Science

In the ABEL program we will be working on Grade 8 and Grade 9 science outcomes in order to prepare for the transition to grade 10 and 11 courses. In addition to the grade 8 & 9 curriculum, students in the ABEL program will be provided with lessons and activities from the Science First Peoples Resource Guide.

We will be using project-based learning, experiments and place-based learning as our primary learning models for this course.  Students will be expected to:

  • form a hypothesis

  • make observations

  • take measurements

  • record observations and data

  • analyze data

  • identify patterns and relationships

  • find connections between traditional and contemporary knowledge

  • make conclusions

  • communicate ideas and findings

  • reflect on learning

  • apply First Peoples perspectives and viewpoints
