Assignment
Your assignment is to write a poem and share it with the class. We will not be hosting a slam this year; however, I am challenging you to stretch your public speaking skills in a sharing circle format.
Step 1: Writing
Write a poem! You have two choices:

Write a Slam Poem (see examples)

Write an ‘I Am From’ Poem (see examples)
Expectations:

Your poem should be at least 10 lines long

Your poem should contain at least 3 literary devices.

You have one week to write and prepare your poem.

A good copy is not necessary since you will be reading your poem to the class.
Step 2: Sharing
Share your poem! You have three choices:

Perform live for the class in a sharing circle

Pre-record your poem and share the video with the class

Create a visual representation of your poem (a poster or a one-pager), to share on our class bulletin board. *
*Please note: Option 3 is for students who are still developing their capacity to speak in front of others.
Due to the compressed nature of our schedule, you are not required to memorize your poem. You may read it to the class from your notebook or phone.
