Course Description

English Studies 12 finds you continuing along the road you started long ago: developing reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills.
The organization of this class is primarily into thematic units: examining each theme through various written, visual, and auditory works. You will often have options to choose from to demonstrate your learning, and a choice of what to read or study. These methods will hopefully increase the relevance of course material for everyone and give you an opportunity to use your strengths to do your best work.
Through the study of literature and the processes of experimenting with, reflecting on, extending, and refining your writing, you will:

-
extend your capacity to communicate effectively in a variety of contexts
-
deepen your understanding of yourself in the world
-
construct meaningful personal connections between self, text, and world
-
expand your understanding of what it means to be an educated Canadian and a global citizen
